Setting Yourself Up For Disappointment.

We can set ourselves up for disappointment when we place our own expectations on other people.

As we all have the capacity for good and bad so too is the capacity for our own flawed judgment.

It's easy to project our high expectations onto other people sometimes negating the low expectations we set for ourselves. 

So when we place our own expectations for another person to live up to we may be setting ourselves up for disappointment.

How many times have you expected someone else to do what you think only to find they fall entirely short of it and you end up getting annoyed, frustrated and irritated?

The alternate is powerful.

Stop projecting your expectations onto other people and start demanding a higher standard instead.

An expectation that someone should [there's that word] call you and take an interest in your life can easily be replaced by the standard of you initiating the conversation, leading by example, and also communicating the fact relationships you engage in have a certain standard.

An expectation that people shouldn't pull you down, gossip behind your back or be there for you whenever you expect it can be replaced by you having a higher standard for your own life by never allowing it in the first place.

When you set an expectation you are setting up the disappointment because people are going to do what is in their own best interest.

Even if someone proclaims to be self-sacrificial it is still for their own self-interest they are that way.

No one is one hundred percent selfless there is always an end need being met.

Today, demand a higher standard for your life and let those who do not meet it fall away to make room for those who also live on the plain of higher standards.
