Boil it down to two high-level perspectives towards life.
You may see it as meaningless or meaningful.
If you see it as meaningless you are off the hook to responsibility and being a victim is the card you most likely use to shelve obligations.
Being an emotional martyr from the woes of the world is how most of your time is spent.
Excuses are also the easiest form of conversation and ultimate acceptance of your fate that there is no point to anything so the lowest common denominator of work, or lack of, is acceptable.
If you see it as meaningful, that means you've grabbed the reigns of responsibility and the sheer weight of the fact that everything you do has a consequence to it and everything you do really - does - matter.
To the point where each person you encounter you're acutely aware that we are all connected and how you leave that person really matters.
Every act, deed, action, has a ripple effect and therefore the good you do and the bad you do both leave a trail or create a flux.
If you accept that there is a meaning to life the acceptance of responsibility of your actions equate to the feeling of freedom and an overwhelming sense of trust in the unknown.
If you accept that life is meaningless then you don't really need to ever do anything but you will certainly not reap any of life's beautiful rewards, chances are you probably wouldn't be reading this.
Either way, you have a choice.
