Contrary to popular belief you don’t face your fears to remove the fear and *poof* it’s no longer in existence.
You face your fears so you develop bravery.
There is a distinction between being chased by the demon of your fear and running directly toward the demon of your fear.
The latter builds you as a person of confidence, courage, and capacity and the former keeps you weak, meager and holds you in place.
Those who may have ultra-high confidence have faced more demons than you have and as a result, are braver but it was by design and not accident.
The same is open to you.
A person is not born confident. It is a learned skill and crafted overtime under the self-imposed pressure of placing oneself into situations, repeatedly, that exceed the comfort zone of the person.
Over the course of time the confidence muscle builds and the fear, which may never disappear, has less power over your ability to act or enact based upon the original fear.
Whilst it seems practical to believe that the physical traits and certain personality types lean toward overt confidence, the bravery to face life and any given situation is not, completely, genetically or physiologically bestowed. Rather it is cultivated by purposeful and intentional directives to face the fear head-on, on a consistent basis.
To run from your fear is to be chased away by the demons of your shadow and ultimately from a high quality, meaningful life.
Take the first step and then keep taking the second.
