You may say “oh crab!” At the end of this, pardon the dad joke.
You wouldn’t believe what happens when crabs are put in a bucket together.
Let's call one freedom dreaming, ambitious, fun-loving crab - Harry.
Harry is longing for the moment he can get out of the bucket.
It's a moment he’s dreamt of worked toward and set his sights on.
His first attempt at him reaching to greater things immediately draws the attention of another jealous crab - Crabby.
Crabby thinks that Harry should stay put with the rest of us. So is quick to reach out grab Harry by the pincher and pull him back.
He falls to the bottom of the bucket.
Harry is little deterred by this and picks himself up; flicks the barnacles off him and goes at again.
As he is reaching towards the top of the bucket; Crabby (now in a foul mood with this attempt to be better than him) yanks him back in!
This time Harry is feeling very heartbroken.
Why would anyone do this to me?
It was expected, to feel a bit of negativity but this is getting violent.
Crabby takes both of Harry’s pinchers and quick nip - cuts them.
He is warned never to try to escape again.
Now, more determined than ever Harry makes the ascent to freedom once more.
Crabby pulls him back in and piece by piece cuts Harry apart, killing him.
Told you not to go back he murmurs.
This behaviour is shocking BUT TRUE.
It's also the reality of what many people in the world are taught to be like and are in real life.
It is the mob mentality of you cannot do better than the next person.
Don't go the extra mile because it makes us look bad.
Don't shine and be your beautiful self because we lack courage and we will feel inferior.
It’s time for you to remove anyone in your life that resembles a crab.
They are killing you piece by piece, dream by dream until slowly you are no more.
